Trainwreck - Romo

Tuesday, December 18, 2007 by Kevin Gogan

Untitled2_2Despite his poor performance last Sunday against the Eagles, Tony Romo has done a pretty good job in his first full season as starting QB for the Cowboys. He leads the league in INTs, but he also ranks 3rd in the NFL in passing yards, 2nd in TDs, and is averaging as many yards per attempt as Tom Brady.
...
Romohanghead There's no doubt that Romo is surrounded by enough talent to win the NFC. However, let's not forget that this 27 year old still has a lot of learning to do. In addition, being the franchise quarterback for America's team has a lot of perks (e.g. Ms Simpson), but also comes with high expectations. If Romo performs poorly in the playoffs, and Dallas doesn't make a trip to Arizona this February, all fingers will be pointing at #9.
...
This is the time of year when teams need to be strongest and playing their best. Dallas has had two shitty games back-to-back... almost losing in Detroit and then losing at home to Philadelphia. The Cowboys can still clinch home-field advantage by winning its next two games, and that would mean avoiding Lambeau in January.
...
Bottom line... it's too early to predict whether Romo will become one of the "greats". But one thing's for sure, he needs to bounce back with a stellar performance this week against the Panthers or he could be looking at another long postseason.
...
