Battle of the Blogs

Monday, July 02, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Another eventful week in the majors... Bonds hit #750, Sabathia's the first one to 12, and the Mariners have won eight straight. But, the highlight of the week is that we crowned another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest...
...
DsrockemsockemThe champ last week was MFHowland, who racked up 31,998 points with 3 wins and 1 loss... nice job.
...
The runner-up
was PGH Lumber Co who won 10,453 points, and AlCantHang landed the third spot with 463 points.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in my weekly baseball contest as well... hitthere, dmoney9333, and mikelj1. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.
...
Good luck
to all of our bloggers in this final week of the Battle of the Blogs contest, and to all of you playing in my weekly baseball contest this week.

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, June 25, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Did you catch yesterday's Reds/Mariners game? All I can say is Griffey did his part... two homers and the Reds still lost 2-3. If you rode the Reds, hopefully you took them +1.5.
...
DsrockemsockemHowever, the most important event from last week is our crowning of yet another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ was fivetooltool, who racked up 15,769 points with 5 wins and 0 losses... nice job. Here are a few words from the champ... "I won with five different teams, with favorites, dogs, road and home. I went against Moose Mussina at altitude, and I think I'm the last man in America to win money with the White Sox this year. What a year in Chicago."
...
The runner-up
was TrevSportsColumn, who won 11,244 points, and BaseballEvolutio landed the third spot with 7,170 points.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in my weekly baseball contest as well... thewinks, hellcat, and mattywies. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.
...

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, June 18, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Last week was eventful... Verlander threw a no-hitter, Bonds hit number 748, and the Yankees are now above .500. On the flip side, the Rangers have the worst record in the majors, and the Orioles have now lost 8 straight.
...
DsrockemsockemMore importantly, we crowned another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ for the second week in a row was sportscolumn, who racked up 19,268 points with 3 wins and 0 losses... nice job. Here are a few words from the champ... "My entire betting strategy revolves around the Phillies. And when I bet them, I go for the 10,000 max bet in honor of their race to 10,000 losses. And that's about the extent of it. I expect the Phils to lose 2 out of 3 to Cleveland (take Cole Hamels tonight) and then sweep the Cardinals."
...
The runner-up
was fivetooltool, who won 4,247 points, but everyone else crashed and burned trying to catch the top dawg.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in my weekly baseball contest as well... frankieb, ryane80, and unglued. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, June 11, 2007 by Dave Stewart

It was a strange week in the majors... a lot of games went to extra innings and quite a few good pitchers had down weeks or didn't get much run support. It's a long season so those things are going to happen from time to time.
...
DsrockemsockemMore importantly, we crowned another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ last week was sportscolumn, who racked up 10,100 points with a single pick... well done.
...
The runner-up
was LarryBrown (not the NBA coach), who won 4,444 points.
...
Rounding out the top three
was gbdawg82, who went 8-9 in his predictions, but still came out ahead with 1,434 points.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in my weekly baseball contest as well... repoman, jrollo76, and bigezze. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, June 04, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Surprise, surprise... a starting pitcher born in 1962 had to have his 1st start of the season pushed back to June 9th due to an ailing groin. Not a good start, but very understandable if you ask me.
...
DsrockemsockemBut, what's more important is that we crowned another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ last week was PGH Lumber Co, who went 4-0-1 and racked up an impressive 27,064 points!
...
The runner-up
was AlCantHang (again), who went 9-9 for the week in his picks and won 17,748 points.
...
Rounding out the top three
was MFHowland, who went 7-5 in his predictions and picked up 11,428 points.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in Dave Stewart's Baseball Weekly contest... mdriskell, mjack52, and Donamg. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, May 28, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Another week of major league action has come to a close. Some teams are streaking upwards, and others are heading south. The Angels and Padres have each won 8 of their last 10, while the Astros have only notched one "W", and the Reds have only come out on top twice in their last 10 games.
...
DsrockemsockemBut, what's more important is that we crowned another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ for the second week in a row was gbdawg82, who went 10-2 and racked up an impressive 34,823 points! Here are a few words from the champ...
...

"This week, I rode the Angels as they continued to live up to their Yankee-killer status by sweeping the Yankees at Yankee stadium. It's unbelievable how good the Angels are against the Yankees. In case you didn't know, the Angels are the only team to have a winning record against the Yankees in the Joe Torre era. I made sure to take advantage of this, racking up close to 21,000 points by laying down plenty of action on the Angels."
...
The runner-up
was AlCantHang, who went 10-7 for the week in his picks and won 14,224 points.
...
Rounding out the top three
was BaseballEvolutio, who went 15-7 in his predictions and picked up 11,246 points.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in Dave Stewart's Baseball Weekly contest... Tom Parilla (again), hitthere, and umpiregod. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, May 21, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Lots of action this last week in the big leagues... the Red Sox not only have the best record in the majors, they're the only team in the AL East above .500. And, the Nats have won 7 of their last 10, but still own the worst record in Major League Baseball.
...
DsrockemsockemMore importantly, we have another weekly winner in my Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ last week was gbdawg82, who went 3-2 and racked up 10,000 points. The top dawg put a lot of faith in the Cubs on Saturday with Marquis on the mound against the White Sox.  gbdawg82 put 7,500 points on the Cubs -1.5 (+161) to win 12,075 points. The Cubbies ended up winning 11-6, but it was still a bold play with a big payoff... nice job.
...

The runner-up
was GarthmeisterJ, who went 10-6 for the week in his picks and won 9,005 points.
...
Rounding out the top three
was Flash, who went 2-1 in his predictions and picked up 2,630 points.
...
And, congrats
to the top 3 finishers in Dave Stewart's Baseball Weekly contest... Tom Parilla, jamiejk, and dozerbob. Those three players, as well as everyone else who finished in the top 25 of that contest, have earned a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.

Battle of the Blogs

Monday, May 14, 2007 by Dave Stewart

Another action filled week in major league baseball has come to a close, and another one starts up today. The Red Sox and Brewers now each have 25 wins, while the Royals and Nationals have each reached the less impressive 25 losses mark.
...
DsrockemsockemAnd, we of course crowned another weekly winner in the Dave Stewart Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ last week was fivetooltool, who went 13-8-1 and racked up 18,157 points. Here are a few words from the top dawg...
...

"The A's were down two with two outs in the ninth, nobody on, and an 0-2 count on Eric Chavez. But the third baseman and Smoke Stewart client (yes, our man is also an agent) would not go gently into that good night, and he got on against Tribe closer Joe Borowski with a base hit. Milton Bradley followed with a longball act of vengeance against his old team. Then, Dan Johnson and Bobby Crosby get knocks to chase the closer. Finally, minor league legend Jack Cust went yard against Fernando Cabrera for his sixth home run in the last seven games. Ball game, Oaktown.
...
It gave the A's a series win, and made them 15-6 against the Tribe in their last 21 games in Oakland. But more importantly, it gave FTT its second win of the year."

...
The runner-up
was BaseballEvolutio yet again, who went 23-21-1 for the week in his picks and won 12,621 points.
...
And, rounding out the top three
was AlCantHang, who had a solid 12-6-1 prediction record and picked up a respectable 12,165 points.
...
Congrats
to all three of you and congrats to venom2077, Handpuppet, and ig2437 for their top 3 finishes, as well as everyone who finished in the top 25 of Dave Stewart's Baseball Weekly contest... earning a chance to play in NBX's 2007 MLB World Sports Betting Championships.

DsrockemsockemMore importantly, we crowned another weekly winner in the Dave Stewart Battle of the Blogs contest. The champ last week was MiamiDon, who went 9-4 and racked up an impressive 29,150  points. Here are a few words from the champ...
...

"This is my second win already this year so I'm staying hot man. Life is good... Last week I rode Milwaukee and the Mets hot streaks and I bet both teams on the run lines to get the odds in my favor. I'm looking forward to the Mets-Brewers series next weekend and I'll be laying points on Detroit this week as I look for them to stay hot."
...
