Surprise, surprise... the return of "Sparky" Williams couldn't keep Miami from sliding to 0-11. This is the losing streak everyone's keeping a close eye on and the 2007 Dolphins certainly don't want to make history this way. However, the Ravens and Panthers have each lost five straight and there are a couple of other teams that might have already experienced their last win of the season
...
Detroit... They started the season off strong, but they've lost three straight and it's looking like the wheels are starting to come off. Detroit's running game and pass defense are both ranked 31st in the NFL right now. Not good. Especially when you consider that they're making a trip to Minnesota this week, hosting the Cowboys next week, visiting San Diego the week after that and finishing up with games against the Chiefs and Packers. The Lions won't lay down for any of those games, but each new loss will take a little more wind out of those sails. The good news is that even if they don't pull out another win this year, they've already done better than last year's 3-13... baby steps fellas.
...
Oakland... The Raiders just snapped a six game losing streak with a big win in Kansas City, but they still have a passing game that's ranked 28th in the league, and a defense that's given up more yards on the ground than any other team in the NFL so far this season. Their last five games are against the Broncos, Packers, Colts, Jaguars and Chargers. And, with no hope remaining for a winning record, one of the few silver linings for the silver and black at this point is that at least they won't be repeating the 9 game losing streak they ended with last season.
...
Bottom line... a lot of players and coaches in all of these struggling organizations are still focused and determined to finish the season strong. Unfortunately, some guys have already checked out and are looking forward to checking into a nice resort somewhere tropical right about now.
