2007 MLB WSBC Winners

Monday, October 29, 2007 by NBX Crew

Wiseguytrophyphoto150 The fat broad belted out her tune last night and the 2007 NBX MLB World Sports Betting Championship Tournament has come to an end. Congratulations to the three wiseguys who made it onto the podium...
...
1st Place: Handpuppet... He's an electrician from Canada and went 13-3 (81%) with his bets to amass an extremely impressive 9,715,261 points! This guy obviously knows how to pick his spots. He finished 3rd after the 1st round of the tournament and was 1st from the 2nd round all the way to the end. He not only gets to put the coveted 2007 NBX MLB WSBC Wiseguy Trophy on his mantle (and since even northern birds love winners, he'll be closing more deals now) but also walks with $2,500.
...
Img_0039_2_3 A few words from Handpuppet... "I am happy to win the WSBC but mostly I am a huge Boston Red Sox fan so it was a double win this year... How I came to be first in WSBC... I was going onto a trip to Mexico and I did not think that I would be able to get to the internet to make any bets so what I did was just bet everything each time. The idea I had was make as much as I can and perhaps I can be in the top 25. While I was in Mexico I was glad I did not bet because I was sure that the tribe was going to win and that would have been my demise. When I came home I was still in number one and then I started to look at the odds and what the max pay out would be and I just kept trying to stay ahead of the revolving doors below me. Congrats to everyone that played and a special congrats to winsbig4us and JUICE MONKEY for making it interesting going down the stretch."
...
2nd Place: winsbig4us... He went 50-21-2 (70%) with his bets to finish with 9,042,663 points and $1,000.
...
A few words from winsbig4us...
"I am retired from the US Navy, serving 24 years in the submarine service... working now as a journeyman pipefitter. My Filipino wifey greatly assisted me as we worked as a team on my picks. She provided the feng shui input for my picks, I usually agreed with her. Sweet Lou gives valuable advice. I read his rantings sometimes 20 times for reading his between the lines. I took advantage of his freebie on the over, never bet against j Beckett, and the fat broad is warming up. People would be well advised to appreciate his words. My brother in law is winsbig4u. Randy introduced me to this very addictive web site about 2 years ago. We still enjoy competing against each other and our buddies. Thanks for this opportunity. Later, Fred."
...

3rd Place: JUICE MONKEY... He went 23-13-1 (64%) to finish with 7,844,299 points and the 3rd place prize of $500.
...
Congrats and spend it wisely fellas... i.e. booze and skirts. However, don't burn all those brain cells just yet cuz the 2008 NBX NFL World Sports Betting Championship Tournament will be here before you know it.

BRONCOS TO SHINE IN MNF

Broncos_cardinals_footb2_t600 DENVER IS 17-7 IN THEIR LAST 24 GAMES AT HOME. They are a great home team. The total went over 4 out of 5 games! Denver out rushes the Packers by 70 yards per game! They are 2-2 against each other in their last 4 meetings, which gives the nod to the home team. Denver's "D" gives up 5 less than points per game! Take the Broncos in this pretty much even game! And, try the overs!
...
Mdriskell won the college pick'em with 42 points. Good job!
...
The pro will be posted tomorrow or later today!

The Five Steps of Grieving for Falcon Fans

Saturday, October 27, 2007 by Blue

Michaelvickr_0 1)  Denial:  Ignoring everything you have seen and in the weekly "Pic 'Em" STILL picking the ATL Falcons to win every game they play by at least 14 points.
...
At such a time those who are grieving often lose sight of the need to take care of themselves physically. Caring for their health and well-being is often the last thing on their minds. Help them to realize that they are important, that their lives are valuable.
...
2)  Anger:  First, I have to say that I personally think Falcon fans are always fucking angry...it is your right as a true fan of this team.  But, in this case, the (s)Aint's game finally did it for me.  I'm an angry little person in general when it comes to sports, so this anger thing is hard to get past.
...
Once denial begins to wear off, our natural tendency is to want to blame somebody-anybody-for our loss and pain. This anger may not be rational.
...
3)  Bargaining: I will do ANYTHING for a miracle...for this team to magically do a complete turn around, for Harrington to suddenly be the greatest NFL quarterback of ALL time and for our O-Line to magically become the best in the NFL, make the play offs....go to the Superbowl and WIN IT ALL, in the process becoming ESPN and the rest of the mediots sudden feel good story of the CENTURY!!!!!!!
...
In the bargaining stage some want to play "let's make a deal."  They imagine that, if they promise to do this or that, then somehow the universe will repay them with the kindness they deserve.  They come to realize that there is no bargaining with the fact they have the worst team in the entire NFL, with the possible exception of Miami. It is only through acceptance of the facts that the reality of the situation can be turned into hope and positive action.
...
4)  Depression:  Heavier than usual drinking and use of drugs.  (I assume all us ATL fans have substance abuse problems with which to begin or we would not be hopelessly devoted to this team in the first place).  Saying, "Fuck it...whatever...I don't even care about watching the game...just give me two klonopin, beer and a joint and leave me the fuck alone." Coupled with crying at the mere mention of the Falcons because YOU KNOW it will just be more bad news and that, yes, things can and will get worse.  During the worst of it, outlandish thoughts of Vick not serving any time and immediately coming home may surface...this is the worst of the worst part of the depression...if someone you know feels this way, please seek IMMEDIATE professional help!!!!!!
...
Reality eventually sets in. We are confronted with the necessity to go on with life without the greatest team, EVER (in our own heads, anyways) we loved. It is easy to begin to plague ourselves with the thoughts of what should have or could have been.
...
5)  Acceptance: This is a stage that no true Atlanta Falcon Fan will reach...EVER.
...
Eventually, as we deal with our grief, we come to understand and accept that we are beginning a new chapter in life. We come to know a new normality. New realities must be adjusted to because we are in a new situation. Because of the trial we are going through, we become stronger, deeper and better for having faced and overcome this great difficulty. Emotional balance returns little by little, like the healing of a physical wound.
...
The time required for the healing process can be different for each person. Some will still feel emotions such as guilt, depression or anger. This isn't necessarily negative...it is just how you deal with life as a true Falcon fan!
...
DO NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE A, "Five Steps of Grieving for Duke Blue Devil Fans," this college hoops season.  Just fucking sayin'.
