In the Box - Weekend Round-up

Friday, September 28, 2007 by Nicky Parlay

37264d3a4722424f9806049df270a15a_ms I love this time of the year. Three different tickets, all intertwined, how could you not parlay? Philly is blowin up, not to jump on the band wagon but the crowd last night was absolutely ridiculous. Yeah Hamels is on the hill tonight but who cares, Philly's intensity last night was off the charts and that alone will win ball games. Put the Mets on as well, I can't stand Paul Lo Duca but the Mets are still stacked and desperately need a win. And the same goes for Boston, no way they lose back to back at home vs Minnesota. And I guess I'll add the Indians, I still think they are a fluke, but I've made a lot of money this season betting against Kyle Davies.
...
And the game to watch tonight is D'Backs at Colorado
. Talk about a run, the Rocks have won 11 straight sweeping 3 consecutive. And what's crazy about it, they might sweep Zona! Due for a loss? I dunno, it's probably not the best game to wager on but the edge still goes to Colorado. Francis has an ERA under 2 vs ZONA this year and the Rocks won both games he started. Webb on the other hand is 0-3 vs the Rocky line-up, posting an ERA over 6.
...
Honorable Mention
: Dolphins -4, Hurricanes -24...
...
Parlay for the Weekend
: Philly, Mets, Boston, Cleveland, Rockies, Canes -24, Dolphins - 4...
...
Good luck,

...
West Virginia

So. Florida is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.

Boise State and Arkansas St both locks!!!!

Thursday, September 27, 2007 by Donny Marotta

Url Boise State is my first choice. Big reason is Southern Miss is 3-11 against the spread which they usually are underdogs in their last 11. Boise State is 15-1 in its last 16 games!!! Boise State is 5-0 undefeated at home and will not lose to this team tonight. Southern Miss is no competition for Boise State, the spread will mean nothing trust me! When Boise State plays outside the conference they are 9-1, while Southern Miss is 6-4!!! I think that is enough said!!!!
...
Arkansas State is 4-1 in last 5 games against Memphis. A couple of years ago Memphis owned Arkansas State, and Memphis was always favored and won 6 out of 7 as a favorite, but now the tide has turned, look who has the better team now! Memphis is 2-11 in its last 13 games, and 1-3 last 4 games on the road. The only stat that scares me is against the spread, Memphis is a heck of a lot better then Arkansas State, but I stick to my guns Arkansas State in a close game and they will cover!!
...
And now just a little recap from last night. The Cubs lost, I don't know how or why do they want the division. Not by losing to a last place team like the Marlins. And those Phils win 5-2 convincingly and the Mets lose, now it is a 1 game gap for first place. The question is do the Mets want to win the division? and I know they don't want to face the Phils!!! Keep playing the contests, the pro contest went up yesterday and more and more people are playing each week!!!

Trainwreck - Be Patient

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 by Kevin Gogan

Untitled2_2 There are a lot of pigskin fans out there who have been crying themselves to sleep these past three weeks. If you're not one of them, consider yourself lucky. Your team's offense is probably firing on all cylinders right now. For the rest of you, take a few deep breaths (herb optional), and be patient with your local offense.
...
070121_tomlinson_hmed_1pwidec Some teams are still adjusting to new players and coaches, or didn't play all of their starters in the preseason because of the salary cap. As a result, those offenses need some extra time to gel. How long should you wait for your team's offense to catch fire? Well, that all depends on how many new players and coaches they've brought in. The more new pieces, the longer the adjustment period. Think of it as an extended preseason. They're having to take the first few weeks of the season to work out all the kinks that their opponents ironed out before the season started.
...
Take the Chargers for instance. They scored more points per game offensively last season than any other team in the league, but rank near the bottom so far this season. However, San Diego's offense has a new head coach and approach to get used to. Plus, LT didn't play in the preseason again this year to avoid getting injured. It's gonna come later into the season than they would have liked, but you can count on this offense lighting it up again this year.
...
So, if your local offense is having a slow start, but possesses the pieces necessary for success, things should be turning around soon. However, if you're just one of those poor bastards who wears the colors of a shitty team, I've got nothin for you... except that you might wanna stock up on the cold ones, cuz it's gonna be a long, tear-filled season.

Cubs are a Lock and the Phils are still there

Jasonmarquis The Cubs will throw Jason Marquis who is 12-8 with an ERA of 4.35. Marquis struggled in his last start against the Pirates, and gave up seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 2 2/3 innings. It wasn't his shortest outing of the year, but it was a bad sign. He had trouble keeping the ball down, and blew a 5-1 lead. This will be Marquis' last regular-season start. He's in line to pitch Game 163 if the Cubs need a one-game playoff to win the National League Central. Don't forget the Cubs need the game, and the Marlins could care less and their fans care even less about 5,000 show up and it is for the other team!!!!
...
As for the Marlins, they will send Daniel Barone who is 1-3 with ERA of 5.30. Barone will take the mound for Florida and get another crack at his first victory as a Major League starter. The right-hander has appeared in 14 games (five starts) since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque in August. Barone's last start was a loss at Atlanta on Sept. 19 in which he gave up four runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. He recorded two perfect outs in relief against the Mets on Sunday. The 24-year-old will be making his first career appearance against the Cubs. He does not want to face the hungry Cubbies for the first time right now in the season!!!!
...
The Phil's are still alive in both races, but the Mets lost and they had a chance to tie with the Mets for the division time is running out, and every game means something in this last week!! Atlanta is used to being on top the do not play the role of the spoiler too good so I say they will lay down the rest of the series and the Phils take 2 out of 3 at home. The Phils send Kyle Lohse, when he pitches the Phils are 7-3. He is 8-12 with ERA of 4.71. The Phils now trail the Mets by 2 games in the EAST. Lohse endured his earliest non-injury related exit with the Phillies on Sept. 20, when he surrendered six earned runs in two innings against the Nationals, but ended up with a no-decision after the Phillies rallied to win the game. The right-hander had done an effective job since arriving from Cincinnati just before the trading deadline. Philadelphia is 7-3 in his 10 outings.
...
The Braves, are not used to playing the spoiler i think will pack it in. Their ace Tim Hudson is 16-9 with an ERA of 3.34. With a little more support from his offense and bullpen, Hudson could be vying for the second 20-win season of his career. But his season filled with misfortune grew a little longer Friday, when each of the three runs he was charged with in a loss to the Brewers came after he retired the first two batters of the eighth inning. He has thrown 17 consecutive scoreless innings entering that inning. He is 0-1 with a 4.39 ERA in four starts against the Phillies this year. Believe me or not the stats don't lie we can hit Hudson!!!!!!!!!!

In The Box

Tuesday, September 25, 2007 by Nicky Parlay

73394686rm003_boston_red_sowidec At first glance the MLB Board looks promising. Hard to say, I definitely don't feel as strong as Sr does on most games. The season's about over, everybody has played everybody, I could cherry pick stats to make any team look favorable. Milwaukee, Cubs, and Phils are 3 quality picks though, I got some others to mix and match so let's parlay the shit out of them...
...
Definitely add Boston to your card
. They are trying to win a pennant, Oakland sucks, and not to blow up Schilling but his ERA vs the A's this season is barely above 1. D'Backs are +1.5, and if the handicappers are thinkin Arizona is going to lose I would figure it's because the Pirates rip the shit out of Davis. Last time he pitched in Pittsburgh he alone gave up 7 and the total for the game was 16. The Chicago total also seems low, and I love the under in Philly at 10.5...
...
I like Cincy to win
and I hope Penny can avenge my last bet he lost. Penny is 6-2 this year in starts following a no decision, and to see the total at 7.5 why not bet the over. And I know the Reds game is completely meaningless, but my Uncle in Cincy praises Bailey and everybody there seems to like him...
...
Mix + Match

...
Boston/Under 10, Phillies/Under 10.5, Cubs/Over 9, D'Backs +1.5/Over 8, LAD/Over 7.5, Brewers and Cincy to win...
...
Parlay for the day
: Boston, Brewers, Cincy, Dodgers, Philly under 6 first 5, D'Backs over 8, Cubs over 9...
...
Good luck,
...
